This pipe is nothing short of a feat of superb craftsmanship by Mr. Reis. As shown above, the pipe's bowl is removable, and keenly resembles the Gourd Meerschaum Calabash popularized by Sherlock Holmes. However, unlike Holmes' Gourd Calabash, this pipe is completely fashioned out of briar. The base bowl and shank is beautifully sculpted and sandblasted. The removable cap is completely smooth with outstanding birdseye. When smoking, the heat is concentrated primarily in the briar cap, creating an uncommonly cool and flavorful smoke. There are many who will tell you this is the only way to smoke a pipe!
